Samuel L. Jackson has attached himself to star in Unfinished Country, a fact-based thriller from writer Mark Wheaton, which has been set up at Blue Star Pictures and Inferno Entertainment (we would say, if we wrote for a trade).
Set in the world’s largest hospital, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, in Soweto, Unfinished Country will see Jackson play Elton, the maverick chief administrator of the hospital, which is right in the middle of Soweto’s violent ghettos.
When a young US medical student arrives at the hospital, he soon finds himself questioning Elton’s methods in the movie, which has been likened to Training Day, only with syringes and a stethoscope, instead of guns.
The film, to which no director is yet attached, will be shot on location in South Africa.
