Toy Story 2 has just confirmed it's success in hard cash - it's become the second highest grossing animated film in US history. Yesterday the film's makers, Pixar Animation Studios, gleefully announced the news that TS2 - its third digitally animated film - has scooped more than $217m at the domestic box office, putting it one place behind The Lion King just seven weeks after its release over the pond. The news means that Pixar is now responsible for half of the six top grossing animated films of all time. Steve Jobs, CEO of the studio said, "Pixar has become one of the two major forces in animation today," while the film's director John Lasseter added, "We are really excited that everyone loves this film as much as we do. Toy Story 2 is the result of an amazing collaborative effort by the incredibly talented group we have here at Pixar." The film is release in the UK on February 4. 1. The Lion King Disney (1994) $312 2. Toy Story 2 *Pixar *(1999) $220+ (still in release) 3. Aladdin *Disney *(1993) $217 4. Toy Story Pixar (1995) $192 5. Tarzan Disney (1999) $170 6.
