Titanic’s inspiration finally departs

Continuing the boat theme, Beatrice Wood, the inspiration for the character of Rose has died at the age of 105. Known as The Mama of Da Da, Wood was a free-thinking artist who Cameron paid homage to - witness the potter's wheel scene which kicks off the epic saga. Interest in Wood continued right up to her death last week, a fact which didn't surprise her, "I'd be interested in any old bag who was still working at the age of one hundred," as she rather winningly put it.
