In this age of digital technology, an actor's real-world transgressions can really come back to bite them, even if they think the film they've worked on is in all locked up. The latest example of that is comedian and actor Chris D'Elia, in the middle of a storm of sexual misconduct allegations, who will now be replaced in the cast of Zack Snyder's zombie-laden heist pic Army Of The Dead by comedian and Star Trek: Discovery cast member Tig Notaro.
While Snyder finished shooting the movie late last year, he'll gather Notaro and other cast members in small groups or remotely for re-shoots that will insert her into the movie, using CG techniques and physical production under Covid safety protocols.
Based on an idea by Snyder, and featuring a script whipped up by Joby Harold (since re-written by the director and Shay Hatten), the film finds a young woman named Kate Ward (Ella Purnell) headed into a dangerous, quarantined Las Vegas, site of a zombie outbreak, intending to discover the source of the undead problem. When she becomes trapped in the zone, her father Scott (Dave Bautista) assembles a group of mercenaries to help rescue her, with the men tempted by the chance to rob the casinos while they're there. Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder and Samantha Win are all also in the cast.
The film has yet to confirm a release date, but it'll hit Netflix when it's finally ready.
