Quentin Tarantino's Broadway production of Wait Until Dark has closed suddenly and prematurely - although not prematurely enough for the critics, who panned the play and particularly laid into Tarantino's performance. The play is a revival of the 1966 hit about a blind woman alone in her flat who's terrorised by thugs. A year later it was made into a successful movie, starring Audrey Hepburn. Commenting on the Tarantino production, the New York Daily News said, "This revival...is grim, gruesome and very scary. And that's just the acting." The New York Times said "Playing a sadistic, murderous thug... Mr. Tarantino seems menacing to nothing except possibly the script." Clearly, when it comes to acting, Quent's a great director.
