Though he's busy with his own films – the much-vaunted final Rambo movie is chugging through post-production – Sylvester Stallone is also working on other projects via his Balboa Productions company. He's just landed a deal to remake South Korean crime thriller The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil.
The original, directed by Lee Won-tae, finds an organised crime boss teaming up with a police detective to catch a serial killer – after the boss becomes the sole surviving witness and victim to one of the killer’s attacks. It stars Ma Dong-seok (AKA Don Lee, who recently entered talks to join Marvel's The Eternals), and he's reprising his role as the gang boss for the new movie.
This is a quick pick up for a film that hasn't even opened in its native South Korea yet (it launches 15 May) and is scheduled to head around the world after that, following a showing at the Cannes Film Festival's Midnight Screening section this month. Stallone hasn't said he'll direct the remake, but he'll be part of the team putting it together.
