Those folks on Hollywood Boulevard really have been busy recently. Not content at inscribing the not insignificant names of Steven Spielberg and Nicole Kidman on their fair sidewalk recently, they have welcomed Martin Scorsese into their family by honouring him with the 2,217th star on their Walk of Fame. In a ceremony at Hollywood's Kodak theatre, the fast-talking owner of the best eyebrows in the Western world was officially included in the famous litany of stars and said he was honoured to have his name placed on the same walkway as many historic directors, writers, and performers. "Many of these names on the Walk of Fame bloom larger than life," Scorsese said. "They created the grammar of cinema." Responsible for embellishing such a grammar with awesome flourishes like Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and Gangs of New York, Marty's going to have get used to such honorific ceremonies. He's just received a lifetime achievement award from his fellow helmers at the Directors Guild Awards this weekend and it's a safe bet he might be going home with an Oscar or two come 23 March.
