You may remember recently that Top Cow Comics announced that they were making a film of **Alibi, a star of their Pilot season a couple of years back. Well, it's just taken another step closer to release with the news that Summit Entertainment have stepped aboard and brought a writer with them.
Yes, the story of a government assassin who has the perfect cover for all his jobs - a high-profile life as a socialite who is always in the public eye - is edging ever closer to the kill zone. It's been compared already with Wanted, also a Top Cow title, and it's hoped that it will slay audiences in the same way. Only without the bendy bullets, because it seems that someone up there thinks that's just a bit too silly.
John Hlavin's the guy with the job of writing the screenplay: a former writer on The Shield, he's now working on his own Western script Gunslinger for Warner Bros. and writing the fourth Underworld film (yes, there's a fourth). This is still a long way from, y'know, happening, but it looks like Alibi is edging ever closer to filmhood.
