The casting for The Suicide Squad keeps on coming. Following word that David Dastmalchian is on to play Polka-Dot Man in James Gunn's new film, Variety reports that Daniela Melchior will be Ratcatcher.

In the comicbooks, Ratcatcher is the alter ego of Otis Flannegan, who as his title suggests, was once part of the vermin control team in Gotham City. But after sinking into a life of crime, he became known via his villainous name and caused trouble for Batman in particular. He can communicate with and train rats to carry out his plans, and carries a gas gun.

Gunn is looking to change things up in casting Melchior, switching the gender of the role as the character joins a squad that will include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and new members played by John Cena and Idris Elba. Viola Davis is also back as governmental overseer Amanda Waller.

The Suicide Squad, which Gunn has written as a follow-up to the 2016 movie, is expected to start shooting this autumn for a 6 August 2021 release date. Melchior is largely known in her home country of Portugal, appearing in movies and TV series.
