And the award for weirdest source material for a film goes to… Hell House.
Production company Firm Films has grabbed the rights to make a movie based on a haunted house-alike attraction that tries to teach American teens about the behaviours that will earn them a bus ticket to hell.
Originally spawned from the mind of Denver pastor Keenan Roberts, there are now around 3,000 of the houses across the US that feature such charming exhibits as abortion, gay marriage and drug use, all portrayed as sure ways to court hell’s wrath.
But instead of reaching for the spoof schtick or trying to get backing from the Passion Of The Christ Crowd, the producers are instead aiming to present a balanced view. The plot will focus on a conservative Christian group setting up one of the houses and the passions it inflames in local pro-choice and gay rights groups.
