Few film directors are more iconic than Steven Spielberg — the man who helped invent the summer blockbuster, gave us some of cinema’s greatest action heroes, and continues to evolve the craft of filmmaking — and Empire is honouring the all-time great with the prestigious Legend of Our Lifetime Award at the Rakuten TV Empire Awards 2018. Spielberg will receive the special award at the ceremony in Camden’s Roundhouse on Sunday 18 March, just ahead of his triumphant return to heartfelt action-adventure spectacle in Ready Player One.
“Empire Magazine is the contemporary vanguard for movies and the people who love them, and this recognition is a huge honor,” Spielberg said. “I’m very proud to receive this award from Rakuten TV, everyone at Empire and all their amazing readers.”

He has entertained, thrilled, educated and inspired us for almost fifty years. So, it is with a full heart that we announce he has been named the Empire Legend of Our Lifetime. We are beyond thrilled that he will be joining us this Sunday at Camden’s Roundhouse, to collect his greatly-deserved honour.”
