1 pm, three screens at Westwood's Avco Theatre. That's when and where the Los Angeles Star Wars premiere will take place - but fans of the sci-fi epic will have to fork out at least $500 each if they want to attend the new prequel's premiere in 11 North American cities on May 16. Details of the Los Angeles premiere of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, a benefit for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, were announced Monday. Invitations form the foundation will begin mailing out early next week. There are 1,400 tickets being sold for $500 each, or in $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000 packages. The incredible price includes a post-screening party. Those in possession of thousands burning a hole in their wallets and seeking an invite should call LA-based Levy, Pazanti and Associates on 001 310 201 5033 - and if you're calling from the UK, bear in mind Los Angeles is eight hours behind GMT. Unsurprisingly, all requests will be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The guidelines set by director George Lucas are that all tickets must be sold. This means that even 20th Century Fox, which is releasing the film, will have to pay for seats. There will be no complimentary ducats. The Los Angeles premiere will be one of 11 held the same day in US and Canadian cities. It's not known which premiere - if any - Lucas and the cast will attend.
