The first Star Wars Battlefront game was an impressive piece of engineering and story a couple of years ago, and now here comes the follow-up. Watch the launch trailer for the new title below.
Featuring new characters created by Motive working alongside the story group at Lucasfilm, Star Wars Battlefront II aims to deliver a new exciting story to the Star Wars universe. Taking place in the 30 years between the destruction of the second Death Star and through the rise of the First Order, the single player story introduces Iden Versio, the leader of Inferno Squad, an elite special forces unit of the Galactic Empire, who are equally lethal on the ground and in space. In addition to Iden, players will also encounter and play as other iconic Star Wars heroes and villains like Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren during the campaign.
But, as the trailer suggests, that's not all: the multiplayer system will support up to 40 players, and takes fans through a wide range of iconic locations from all three eras: prequel, classic and new trilogy, including new in-game locations such as Yavin 4’s jungle canopies, the spaceport town of Mos Eisley, and Starkiller Base.
The game will hit shops on 17 November on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC. If you're after early access, you can find the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition starting 14 November and play first trials via EA and Origin Access from 9 November. Making your own lightsaber or gun sounds is, as ever, optional.
