Steve Martin has announced that he's turning his back on films for a while to return to the stage for the first time since he appeared with Robin Williams in "Waiting for Godot" in 1988. He's appearing in a play about Dalton Trumbo, a screenwriter blacklisted in the 1950's during the McCarthy-inspired Communist witch-hunts. He plays the lead character in "Additional Dialogue: An Evening With Dalton Trumbo," which was put together by Trumbo's son, Christopher, from letters the written while the writer was blacklisted. Trumbo wrote the Oscar-winning scripts "Roman Holiday" and "The Brave One" under false names during the period of his ban. Under his own name he wrote the scripts for "Spartacus" and "Exodus," among others.
