He’s the villain of Heroes and the hero of Vulcan but Zachary Quinto is not a man who ever expected to be a sci-fi icon.
Talking exclusively to FHM, the man who would be Spock in JJ Abrams’ forthcoming Star Trek reboot says: “It's interesting - I never imagined science fiction would be a catalyst for my career.”
Currently filming aboard the original Enterprise, the man playing Starfleet’s pointiest-eared Science Officer was never what you would call a hard-core Trek follower.
“I was exposed to Star Trek when growing up,” he says. “I watched some episodes and a couple of movies, but I was never fanatical.”
Not that he’s biting the hand that feeds him, as he explains the attraction of acting up the fantastical.
“There's a core faith in the human condition that exists in a lot of science fiction, but in particular Star Trek and Heroes,” says the sometime Sylar. “And I don't think there's any mistake I'm aligned with that.”
