Speaking to The Dominion Post, Steven Spielberg revealed the likely identity of the third director for the Tintin trilogy. "I'll direct the first one, Peter [Jackson] will direct the second one," he said. "We'll probably co-direct the third one."
This has seemed the probable case for a while now, almost since the pair announced that they'd be making the motion capture movies based on Herge's comic books about a teenage detective. There were whispers that George Lucas or James Cameron might direct the third picture, but these seemed to be purely speculation based on those directors' friendships with Spielberg and Jackson, or a connection to the technology (Cameron has done some work with the pair on the project).
The films are set to begin filming later this year, with Thomas Sangster in the lead role and Andy Serkis also in an unconfirmed role. Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat with pen the script for all three films.
