While the trailer for the visually inventive Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse already introduced main character Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), an older Peter Parker (Jake Johnson) and Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), the multiple-dimension story means there are several other Spider-folk still to show up. At the movie's Comic-Con panel, writer/producer Phil Lord revealed that we'll meet Peter Porker (Aka Spider-Ham, voiced by John Mulaney), Spider-Man Noir (a previously announced Nicolas Cage) and Kimiko Glenn's Penny Parker.
Yes, one of those is an anthropomorphic pig who helps to save people. As for Spider-Man Noir, he was raised in Depression-era America and carries a gun. Finally, Penny Parker inherited the ability to pilot a complicated robo-suit from her father. All the various Spideys will be needed to fight a threat that could endanger all their realities.
We also learn that Johnson's Peter comes from his own reality, as Parker is dead in Miles' world, which causes no end of surprise for our hero.
Lord also addressed the movie's impressive comicbook look. "This is the best opportunity ever to tell a story that actually looked like a comic book. From the very beginning we said, 'how can we make a movie that looks like nothing you've seen before?'" he told the audience.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will arrive in the UK on 14 December.
