David Goyer is part of a line up of producers set to work on Species X, which in an unprecedented move, will be released simultaneously as a feature film and a video game, each with unique, crossover plot strands. It's all going to take place at Warner Brothers.

Also on board are Basil Iwanyk, and one of the executive producers of The Shield - Kurt Sutter, along with Nathan Hendrickson and Jason Hall. It was this last participant who seems to be the man at the centre of the idea. "We wanted to come up with something specifically designed to use multiple mediums to tell stories that had some continuity and connective thread." He told Variety. Hall was the one who created a twenty-page bible from which all of the potential further stories can stem.

The plot concerns a police officer questioning who he is as a man, and then finding out that he actually isn't one. The story then shifts and expands to encompass factions of good and evil aliens, playing out a tug-of-war for the protagonist.

The specific order of events is expected to be the computer game released first, with the feature film appearing as a sequel. There is, however, no mention of a production date yet, let a alone release date.
