Barely two weeks into filming and **Skyfall **is already setting a new gold standard for 007. In a series milestone (in a series that has boasted more than any other, let's not forget) Bond's filmmakers have for the first time taken a 50 year-old icon and redefined him for the digital age - with early clapperboard set reveals from days one and ten of filming. That's days One. And Ten.

What does the future hold? Well, if this intriguing line in the sand is anything to go by, Daniel Craig's third outing - under the stewardship of Sam Mendes and legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins - looks poised to boast the most compelling and exciting campaign of the series, Twitter and Facebook feeds taking the iconic spy to a new level of digital intrigue.

While we can't profess inner knowledge of exactly what's afoot in this scene, feel free to start speculating wildly from this point to release in October. Note, too, that while Mendes and co are embracing new media he is also staying firmly in the realm of film, shooting 35mm.

And, speculation aside, we do know a thing or 23 about Skyfall. The new issue of **Empire **(out on Thursday, fact fans) has the full low-down on Bond's 23rd outing, piecing together plot snippets, Empire's insider tips, word from Mendes and, yes, some photos of some really rather pretty people indeed. Bring it on.
