Sad news today that British producer Simon Channing-Williams has lost his five-year battle with cancer and passed away aged 64. He was best known for his work on films like The Constant Gardener and Happy-Go-Lucky with regular collaborator Mike Leigh.
Leigh paid tribute to him, saying, "He battled cancer very bravely for nearly five years. His great phrase was 'let's just get on with things' and right almost to the last he was still working. He was a very extraordinary big man and he will be missed universally."
Channing-Williams worked on other films including Blindness, Jack & Sarah and Nicholas Nickelby, but will be best remembered for his work with Leigh, and for his charitable work for the Constant Gardener Trust that he set up, with the cast and crew of that film, to help the communities they worked with in Kenya.
