It's been a long time coming, but the various elements are moving together to launch the sequel to Silence of the Lambs into production. Speaking to the New York Times last week, Stacy Snider - the head of Universal's movie division - let it be known that a scribe had been found for Hannibal. He is none other than Steve Zallian, the screenwriter responsible for Schindler's List. The only other player so far confirmed is Ridley Scott who takes over from Lambs director Jonathan Demme - who apparently withdrew over concerns about the violent nature of Dr Lecter's latest exploits. Both Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster are said to be waiting to see the final script before deciding whether to jump on board.
