To have Adam Driver or Scarlett Johansson in a drama is a good thing. To get them both in a meaty film about marriage issues and a couple learning how to break up while keeping a family bond intact? We can already hear the awards chatter. Check out the trailer for Marriage Story.
Noah Baumbach, a past master of chronicling marriages in trouble, directs here, which is the incisive and compassionate story of a couple (Johansson's Nicole and Driver's Charlie) who are seeing the end of their married relationship, and navigating those tricky waters while also making sure that their son, Henry (Azhy Robinson) is kept secure.
With a solid cast that also includes Merritt Wever, Alan Alda, Laura Dern, Wallace Shawn, Ray Liotta and Julie Hagerty, Marriage Story will be on limited release in UK cinemas on 8 November and then hits Netflix on 6 December.
