With Snakes on a Plane getting closer by the day, Samuel L. Jackson is looking ahead to find other projects that could be as exciting as that reptilian opus – and he’s decided upon Doug Liman’s sci-fi thriller Jumper.
Sadly not a story about super-powered knitwear, this is in fact the story of a teen who discovers he can teleport himself, who uses his ability to search for the man he believes is responsible for the death of his mother. In the process, however, he attracts the attention of another boy with the same ability, and – perhaps more worryingly – the NSA. Jackson will be playing the NSA agent tracking him, who may have ulterior motives at work.
Tom Sturridge, last seen in Vanity Fair and Being Julia, Jamie Bell and Teresa Palmer (Wolf Creek, The Grudge 2) have already been cast, with filming taking place in Tokyo, Toronto, Rome and New York. Liman is working from a script by David Goyer which was rewritten by Simon Kinberg, who’s also producing.
