Top WWF wrestler the Rock will get $5.5 million to play the lead role in The Scorpion King. The Rock (real name Dwayne Johnson) has a small part in The Mummy 2, and The Scorpion King will be a spinoff from that role. The action will take place in ancient Egypt and the Rock will play a peasant who seeks revenge on the leader of an army who plundered his village. Mummy director Stephen Sommers will oversee the project, but a director has yet to be appointed. The Rock's bosses at the WWF will be involved in the film's production, marketing and the inevitable merchandising frenzy. The company's CEO, Linda McMahon, said "This is an excellent way for us to break in and for the Rock to establish his star power." And for those of you who doubt the Rock's acting ability - what do you think he does in the ring?
