Netflix has form when it comes to telling royal stories — and it’s pulled together a top cast for upcoming film The King. The streaming service is behind David Michôd’s new film based on Shakespeare’s Henry IV and V, starring Timothée ‘Timmy Two-Fingers’ Chalamet as the young King Hal (aka Henry V), who inherits the crown unexpectedly at an early age and relies on the guidance of his close ally Falstaff, played by Joel Edgerton.

Shooting on the film has just begun in the UK, bringing with it a swathe of additional casting news. Robert Pattinson has signed on to play French prince The Dauphin, while Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp will play Princess Catherine. Ben Mendelsohn has also joined the cast as Henry IV — meaning there’s once again a strong chance that he’ll be wearing a large cloak.

The film is due on Netflix next year, and comes from a script by Michôd and Edgerton. The pair have previously worked together on post-apocalyptic drama The Rover and Michôd’s feature debut Animal Kingdom, which also starred Mendelsohn.
