There aren't many musicals that have been inspired by Fellini. Cats was a bit more Fassbinder and Mamma Mia has obvious overtones of Kaurismaki, as anyone will tell you. But 1982 Broadway hit 9 took its inspiration from Fellini's 8½, the story of a film director who retreats into his dreams when inspiration deserts him, and is now being adapted for the screen by Rob Marshall, of Chicago fame.
