It seems that Steve Schwartz, Paula Mae Schwartz and Nick Wechsler have something of a fondness for getting into difficult situations. The three produced the upcoming movie version of Cormac McCarthy's brilliant post-Apocalyptic novel The Road, and now they're working on a feature film based on Pete Takeda's non-fiction book An Eye At The Top Of The World.

The book tells the story of a team of CIA and Indian climbers who headed up the Himalayas in 1965 to monitor Chinese nuclear tests. Takeda himself is a seasoned climber and will oversee screenwriter Ryan Douglas Pearson as he puts the script together. Also, fact-fans, the book covers Takeda's own attempts to recover the "plutonium-powered spy device" used on the mission (we're pretty sure this is based on a true story, even though that bit makes it sound as though Bond was involved).

There's no word yet on director or stars, but with this sort of Cliffhanger meets Cold War premise, we'll be looking forward to hearing more.
