Alien invasion is one of those plots that reappears every so often, and the challenge is to make something fresh with it. Beast director Michael Pearce has just such an idea, with Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer attached to star.
Co-written by Pearce and The Ritual's Joe Barton, Invasion follows two young brothers who go on the run with their father, a decorated Marine (Ahmed), who is trying to protect them from an inhuman threat. As the journey takes them in increasingly dangerous and unexpected directions, the boys will need to confront hard truths and leave their childhood behind. Spencer will play a probation officer who is trying to help the dad come home.
Amazon Studios has picked up worldwide rights to the movie, which should be shooting in the States later this year.
