Now that the Devil has had his due with The Omen, Jesus is back to re-establish his cinematic dominance.
Not content with already having seen The Passion and the upcoming chronicle of his birth in The Nativity, Screen Gems is planning The Resurrection.
Taking its source material directly from the Bible, the movie will follow the events in Jesus’ life beginning the day he died on the cross and finishing up approximately 40 days later with him ascending into Heaven. Now there’s someone who liked a big finish.
The production team hired Lionel Chetwynd, writer and director of 1987’s The Hanoi Hilton to pen the script several months ago. And it should come as little surprise that the planned producer is Tim LaHaye, better known as the man partly responsible for the Left Behind books about the Rapture and Apocalypse.
