You scrape together the money to make a film, in this case The Education Of Charlie Banks. You find a quality cast that includes The Squid And The Whale’s Jessie Eisenberg, Jason Ritter and Chris Marquette to star in a story about a college kid who receives a shock visit from the scariest kid from his old New York neighbourhood.
And then you have to find a director that can bring it all together. Iridium Entertainment thinks it’s found the right man: Limp Bizkit rocker Fred Durst. Durst, who has been threatening to jump to movies for years, is finally making his directorial debut, despite having helmed several of the band’s music videos. Don’t panic though – he has Conrad Hall Jr. on board as cinematographer, who may not be quite as well known as his late father, but showed similar talent in films like Panic Room, so it should all look good.
And Fred's convinced he's got the right stuff. "I was offered all kinds of cheesy movies that were really successful to direct and I was like, 'I'm not here to make movies like that.' I want to make timeless movies," he once told Contactmusic.com.
"I want to be beside Martin Scorsese and Wes Anderson and Paul Thomas Anderson. I'm a real director." What no Paul WS Anderson, Fred?
