Last hitting the screens with The Horse Whisperer, Robert Redford is gearing up for his next picture, The Legend of Bagger Vance, in which he will direct, co-produce and star. With an attached tag of $70 million, the film follows the fable about a local golfer, a Great War hero Rannulph Junah (Redford), who gains the opportunity to compete against golf greats Walter Hagen and Bobby Jones in a 1931 tournament - during which Junah is given both spiritual and golf guidance by a mysterious black caddy, Bagger Vance - when racial discrimination is rife and golf is almost a religion. With Morgan Freeman pegged as the man for Vance's job, shooting is slated to begin September 8, with DreamWorks distributing.
