College graduate makes good? We'll try and keep the envious bile from rumbling through our system as we type.

But Adam Alleca has plenty of reasons to make his filmmaking rivals seethe. Not only does he have a script (Home) set up with Wes Craven, and one at Michael De Luca’s company (Beneath), he’s just signed on to write and make his directorial debut on the thriller Standoff.

The plot focuses on a war veteran with serious problems who has to fight his personal demons and help a 10-year-old murder witness who has gone on the run.

Production company Echo Lake will fund the film, which hopes to start shooting later in the year.
