Director Jeremiah Chechik’s career was bubbling happily along with the likes of Diabolique and Benny & Joon until one fateful day in the late ‘90s, when he signed a contract to make a certain action film known as The Avengers.

One massive flop and a slew of negative reviews later, he’s not been seen directing a film since, only popping up for the odd episode of TV here and there. But now it looks like he’s ready to get back into the movie saddle.

He’s agreed to helm an adaptation of Michael Turner’s cult novel The Pornographer’s Poem. It’s the story of an ordinary man who stumbles into the world of porn movies via short films. Karen Walton is writing the script and Chechik will work on the film after he finished shooting TV mini-series The Bronx Is Burning, which sees 1970’s New York through the eyes of baseball fans.
