Tourists visiting the glitz, glamour and... well, prostitutes, that grace Los Angeles' Hollywood Boulevard have doubtless spent many an hour traipsing around the Kodak Theatre and gazing in awed wonder at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The giants of the movie industry lie set among the paving stones for all to admire, their names etched for all time and paving the sidewalk alongside their peers for any and all to stop and admire. However, with more than 2000 stars to walk all over, visitors would have been forgiven for failing to notice the conspicuous absence of one Steven Spielberg - you may have heard of him. The powers that be have taken steps to rectify this injustice, though, and Mr Spielberg's nomenclature will grace the very first star to be added in 2003. Fans of the Close Encounters and Jaws director should not take his hitherto omission as a snub, it appears that, busy bee that he is, this is the first time that Spielberg has made himself available. "We're just pleased that we finally got him," said walk of Fame chairman Johnny Grant. "He could have been approved 20 years ago."
