There's a chance you've never heard of universe-saving duo Ratchet & Clank. Ratchet is a Lombax - like a cat, but not - and Clank is his clever little robot chum. They usually appear in Sony video games, but now they're appearing on the big screen.

Announced over on the Playstation blog with a neat little video teaser - see below - it's being crafted by the animating folk over at Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment (Escape From Planet Earth), with the original Ratchet & Clank crew (Insomniac Games) playing a key part in bringing the movie to life, be it through screenplay or direction or what-have-you. Have a look at the clip below for a better handle on it all.

Who's Captain Qwark, you ask? The fool of the series, he's a cross between Futurama's Zapp Brannigan and The Green Lantern: a selfish coward willing to do anything for money and publicity. From the looks of things, we can expect a lot from him.

The series, although not as well-known as, say, Super Mario Bros., is ripe for an animated movie adaptation, with the games' sense of fun sure to translate well in cinemas, what with the time travel funtimes and absurdly massive weaponry to enjoy.

The Ratchet & Clank Movie is COMING TO THEATERS IN 2015, though you may have noted that already.
