An attempt to harness the forthcoming prequel hype for charitable purposes appears to have backfired. The Denver Post seems to have put a spanner in the works when they leaked a story about Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox exploring the possibility of charitable screenings of the film before its general release. Rumour has it that The Post waxed hysterical about the proposed $500 a seat price tag and not the Children's Hospital Foundation who would benefit. They also saw fit not to mention the fact that 20% of the seats would be given to disadvantaged children. For all their good intentions the film’s producers are currently trying to claw their way out of a potential PR disaster. Desperately explaining that 100% of the ticket price would go to the charities involved and pointing out that it’s on general release three days later anyway.
