It’s been eight years since the Predator last hit the big screen, and this time it’s coming back with a new secret weapon: Shane Black. The buddy-comedy master behind Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys has co-written and directed The Predator, whch brings the iconic intergalactic hunter to the American suburbs.

In an exclusive new image from the upcoming July issue of Empire, the dreadlocked alien is causing trouble for Boyd Holbrook’s former commando Quinn McKenna — and Olivia Munn’s scientist Casey Bracket might need more than just that pistol to save him.

Getting Shane Black on board means a genre-blend is on the cards — just see what he did with Iron Man 3 — and as well as the comedy, sci-fi and horror, there’s something else intriguing in the mix. “There’s more a sense of espionage thriller to this one,” Black told Empire in the new issue. “The Predators have attracted attention now, and the global intelligence community is involved.”
