A group of US activists, currently protesting what they see as the 'outrageously high price of movie tickets and snacks' are using the internet to urge American cinemagoers to boycott cinemas this coming weekend. The group - known only as wecandothis.com - were encouraged to begin their protest when cinema tickets in Los Angeles passed the $10 mark earlier this year. 'Inside the movie theatre, we may be a captive audience, but this Friday, let's project our independence,' their Ideatown website says. 'We can show the showbiz industry that we control our entertainment dollars, and we're not going to sit still for this kind of box office avarice.' According to organisers, thousands of people have already logged on to the site, and hundreds of emails have been sent in a hope to persuade people to stay away from US cinemas on Friday.
