There are some jobs that require little or no expertise to qualify for. For example, being a drunken hobo dancing for spare change doesn't even require Maths GCSE; while to be a lab animal, you don't even need to have finished primary school. So imagine bring rejected for animal testing and chucked onto the proverbial scrap heap. Then you'll have an idea of how the poor critters must feel in forthcoming animated comedy Phreex. Cast out of the apparently desirable world of non-lethal animal experimentation, these band of brothers set out on an expedition of self discovery and a place on this Earth to call home. Through their trails and tribulations they discover a haven owned by a Bill Gates-like figure who has opened his doors to all creatures, no matter their colour, creed or deformity. Looks like there could be a new trend in the films on the distant horizon developing. Empire brought you news yesterday about New Line Films We3, involving cute little killing machines trying to find their way home. Now John. H. Williams, who has produced such films as Shrek, Shrek 2, The Tuxedo and Valiant, has picked up the script for this rather cuddlier story, by Matt Corman and Chris Ord. This film sounds like the archetypal kid/teen movie about growing up and feeling different, when in fact everyone's probably more messed up than you. But with a promise of some crazy capers and escapades it should be a roller castle of zany fun. We'll keep you bang up to date with any future developments.
