The scoops are coming thick and fast from the set of The Patriot - the multi-million blockbuster starring Mel Gibson which is supposed to be the Saving Private Ryan of the American Civil War. On top of numerous accounts of accidents and upsets on the set, particularly in battle scenes involving hundreds of extras, comes the news that the fragrant Katie Holmes (of TV's Dawson Creek) might be appearing. Rumour has it that she's slated to play a small role as the love interest of Heath Ledger - last seen swooning over Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You. Buzz about the project is generally good, particularly with Roland Emmerich (ID4, Godzilla) at the helm and Gibson on board.
