Comedy about man with not long to live

Overture Films, the fledgling company behind the Pacino-De Niro comeback special, Righteous Kill, has picked up its latest project: 92 Minutes.

No, it’s not a football movie, nor is it a sequel to that other Al Pacino starrer, 88 Minutes, but it does share a real-time gimmick with that lamentable thriller – and, more importantly, the central notion of a protagonist facing imminent death.

However, the chief difference between this, and similar material like, say, DOA or Crank, is this: 92 Minutes is a comedy.

A ‘philosophical comedy’, in fact, in which a man discovers that he only has a certain amount of time (guess how long?) left to live. Now, with the Grim Reaper sharpening his scythe, he must decide whether to rush through his remaining time so he can put his affairs in order, or to take each moment as it comes.

The film, which will be written by Daniel Taplitz, is based on Mar Baum, an Israeli comedy from 1997. We haven’t seen that one, to be honest, but apparently 92 Minutes will be lighter in tone than its progenitor. Well, as light as a comedy about impending doom can be.
