Terrestrial TV fans rejoice! The BBC has won back the rights to show the Oscars from their rivals at Sky. The 2002 Academy Awards will be shown live on BBC Two in the early hours of the 25 March, in a show presented by the Corporation's new'ish face of film Jonathan Ross. To anyone who's had to endure the horror of Barry Norman's presentation of the year's second most important film awards (Empire's is top - surely?!), or even worse hasn't had access to live footage at all, this will come as welcome news. And that's not all - the BBC have also secured the rights to show the BAFTAs, thanks to an early ending of a three year contract between BAFTA and Sky. As per usual, the Empire Online team will be publishing a commentary on the Academy Awards throughout the night - so if you want the inside skinny on what's going on in Hollywood on Oscar night, make sure you've got us turned on.
