The Old One’s Are The Best

It's been a good week for veteran heart-throb Sean Connery, not only has he tied up a lucrative three-picture deal with Intermedia, but he's also struck a blow for wrinklies everywhere by being by being voted Britain's sexiest actor in a new poll. The 68-year-old star is likely to star in all three projects which include a David and Peter Griffiths-penned drama called Do Not Go Gentle, a period drama written by Mark Rosenthal called The Patriot and finally, Mount Weather, an action adventure pic. The former James Bond picked up nearly a third of the votes in a survey carried out to launch FilmFour, Channel 4's new pay-per-view movie channel, finishing well ahead of Hugh Grant who came second with 13% of the vote. Fellow Scots, Ewan McGregor and The Full Monty star Robert Carlyle came third and fourth with 12 and eight per cent respectively. Another ageing star, 50-year-old Jeremy Irons, came fifth with seven per cent. Titanic star Kate Winslet beat off tough competition from the likes of Liz Hurley, Kate Beckinsale, Anna Friel and Helena Bonham Carter to top the sexiest actress side of the survey
