She’s looking for love in new rom-com

Nicole Kidman Joins Headhunters

If Nicole Kidman was a robot — and we should note that as of yet there’s no conclusive evidence — there would no doubt be a switch beneath her elegant chiffron Chanel dress with two settings: FROSTY and BUBBLY.

After her recent run of sombre and serious (Birth, Dogville, The Hours…) it seems that switch has finally been flipped. Bewitched, in which she played twinkly-nosed witch Samantha, didn’t work out exactly as planned, but that hasn’t stopped her continuing to mine for rom-com gold with forthcoming flick Headhunters.

Not, sadly, the tale of love-struck savages in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, it’s instead an adaptation of a bestselling novel by Jules Bass. In the book, four single ladies from New Orleans hit Monte Carlo with a single intention: to bag a quartet of filthy rich blokes. Renting out designer clothes and armed with an array of opulent anecdotes, the girls quickly hit paydirt with a bunch of wealthy playboys — but then discover they might not be the only ones keeping up appearances.

It’s a cool concept with potential for Sex And The City style and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels laughs. Whether it’ll be a big hit with guys as well as gals, though, will depend on the casting. May we suggest Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson for two of the playboys?
