Universal Studios are planning to will restore, re-edit and re-release a director's edition of Welles' noir Touch of Evil. The formidable shadow of Orson will be hanging over the project in the form of a 58-page memo the man himself penned. Rick Schmidlin, a film historian, will produce the flic which follows the re-working of Spartacus, To Kill a Mockingbird, Frankenstein and Hitchcock's Vertigo, Psycho and Rear Window. So what's it all about? It's a small-town tale with Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Welles, Marlene Dietrich, Dennis Weaver and Zsa Zsa Gabor on the US-Mexico border. One to look forward to...
