With fresh-faced high-schooler and demi-god Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) joining Harry Potter, The Last Airbender, Kick-Ass's Dave Lizewski and the crew of the **Dawn Treader **for on-screen exploits, 2010 is shaping up to be the year of the teen-on-a-mission.
In Percy's case the mission is a particularly tall order, as this new poster suggests. Not only is the young hero forced to journey across America in search of Zeus's missing lightning bolt, tackling all manner of gods and monsters en route, but, by the looks of things, he's got to find time to act as a kind of impromptu Thames Barrier. Or cope with the watery machinations of Poseidon, one of the two.
There are high hopes for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. With strong source material in the shape of Rick Riordan's series of novels, a pantheon of acting talent that includes Sean Bean (Zeus), Steve Coogan (Hades), Rosario Dawson (Persephone) and Uma Thurman (Medusa), and a centaur that's half horse, half Pierce Brosnan, it looks to have every chance of living up to them.
Mortals can judge for themselves when Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief hits cinemas on 12 February, 2010.
