The New Halloween Brought Scares And Caring To Comic-Con

Halloween (2018)

On the heels of the movie's first trailer last month, the new Halloween brought some footage to the San Diego Comic-Con, and amidst all the terror was a touching moment of reality.

Director David Green and star Jamie Lee Curtis were among those representing the movie at the panel, and they talked up how Laurie Strode in this story is a woman still haunted by what happened to her as a teenager. She'll have to push through her PTSD when the danger re-enters her life.

The footage shown was effectively creepy, with Michael once more on the loose and killing randomly (though, we noted, avoiding a baby – even a psychopath has to have standards). And it certainly got a good reaction from the crowd, pleased to see that the spirit of the original lives on (having John Carpenter as producer and composer doesn't hurt).

During the Q&A panel, there was a truly wonderful moment – the sort you sometimes get at the Con – where a man in tears told the story of how he survived an assault on his home because he channelled what he thought Curtis' character would do. She ended up calling him to the stage for a hug and a private chat.

Also part of the movie's presence at the Con was this nifty new poster, as crafted by artist Bill Sienkiewicz, showing Michael in typically violent form.
