The work of Swedish novelist Jens Lapidus drove three crime drama films set in the world of Snabba Cash (Easy Money). Now Netflix has seen the opportunity to keep that cash train rolling, commissioning a six-part original series set in the same world.

Joel Kinnaman starred in the original as JW, who becomes a drug runner in order to maintain his double life. His world gets increasingly complicated as he spends time in prison and faces threats from mobsters and the law.

This new series will be set 10 years after the events in the trilogy, where Stockholm's criminal underground has become even more obsessed with status and money, while the entrepreneurial jet set as well as the criminal worlds have collided. Lapidus is on as a producer, while Oskar Söderlund developed the show and is running it. "I have been waiting for an opportunity to continue with Snabba Cash, says Lapidus. "The stories are still epic but also depict our time in an unfiltered light. It will be amazing."

With the cameras set to roll in Sweden in 2020, we can either expect the show later that year or sometime in 2021.
