Steven Spielberg is breaking into the video gaming market, having announced a development partnership with a major gaming house. They are set to create three new franchises, of which work has already begun on the first.
The deal sees Spielberg with first look option on overseeing every aspect of creative development – including development of the ideas into film or TV, while the intellectual property for the games and all of their sequels will be owned by the developer.
It's not the first time the uberdirector has dipped his toe in gaming waters – his (co-owned) Dreamworks Interactive created the Medal Of Honor series, before that company was bought out.
The first title is expected to be a sci-fi or action game.
