If you've seen either of the trailers for Roland Emmerich's latest disaster movie, Moonfall, you'll know it comes chock full of the director's big passion – smashing stuff on screen. And now, with the opening five minutes online for all to watch, it will surprise exactly no-one in that it starts as the movie means to go on...

Yes, we open with Halle Berry's Jo Fowler, Patrick Wilson's Brian Harper and Frank Fiola's Alan Marcus, the three members of a shuttle crew about to have a close, disruptive encounter with... something not of this world. Soon, it's all gone Gravity and you also know there's a very bad thing happening to the Moon.

The movie has the celestial body plunging towards the Earth and the chaos that ensues, with Game Of Thrones' John Bradley as a conspiracy theorist whose seemingly crazy ideas about the Moon are suddenly very real, and Donal Sutherland as Holdenfield, who knows a lot about NASA's secret research into the place.

Moonfall will land in UK and Stateside cinemas on 4 February.
